Tower hobbies.com had the 1/8 buggy rs with everything except fuel and mauve the starter box for $499 or 3 pay plan for $158.. I was thinking about buying it to bash and race it from time to time.. But not seriously..my electric is for that..lol

Its a starting point.. Run it until you save a little more and change the radio. I bought my niece a flysky 3tb 2.4 gtz for 39.00 and its awesome so far. It has fail safe and an ABS feature for nitro cars .. Is it as good as a $200 futaba.. no, but it will give you trouble free running and allow you to get into the winner circle.. Most defiantly.
If you feel you need a better steering servo , save up $80 and order one later.
Better engine .. get one later and use the original as a backup
I'll tell you what I've leaned and seen since I've gotten back into this hobby 3 months ago.
First the best upgrade you can make is the DRIVER >>>PERIOD
This car or any car that you can drive will help you. My Buggy drives differently compared to my Short Course, but the fastest line doesn't change. If I can follow the line in the buggy, I can with my short course, a rally car etc.. and doing it consistently... This is fundamental ..
I've seen stock Traxxas slash beat losi and associated at the track because the driver was simply better.. on top of that his truck was slower. He stayed in the best line and the controllable speed kept him right side up. Often Consistent drivers will beat faster drivers with faster cars.. I'm proof of that.. lol I'm quick, just not consistent yet.
We've all owned cars that come out of the box needing some work ..The SC10 4x4 is a great example of that.. It will get destroyed out of the box by trucks that require less tweeaking.. but thats half the fun..
I'm saying, buy what you can afford, that's a good platform. Something you can build and learn on.. Something that has potential to get you in the middle of the pack and even the podium. Something that you can upgrade as your money allows..
The great thing about rc is if in a year or 6 months your really good and want that new chassis. You pull off your motor, your servo, the radio.. Sell the car as a roller for $150 and put it all on a newer rc8.2 or mugen chassis.. that you can then find used for maybe $300
Not trying to rant.. This is just what I've learned.
Hope to see you at the track with a nitro Soon ;D

Nitro buggies are a lot of fun, and by far my favorite class. My favorite part is seeing my car last a 30 to 45 minute main with nothing done to it except for adding fuel to it. With these types of cars that something so little as one screw backing out can put you out of a race. Just goes to show that you have to have everything tight and ready to last a long main.

Yeah i think im just gonna go all out, all brand new. ive already tried rtr's and i tried cutting corners on price by buying the losi 810 and no offense to losi drivers but the 810 wasnt half of what losi claimed it was so i ended up spending as much money as if to buy an RC8.2 with a Reedy 121 vr-st! so i figured that id go with a kit that way i know what its made of and can build it myself which i consider always fun. ;D

I love my rc8.2! why don't you just order the parts and convert yours to nitro. That is what I would do.. Sell the electronics off it to buy the few parts you need to put it back nitro.
The rcb.2e is just a factory nitro to electric conversion.. You'd just be reversing it.

mines not the rc8.2e though. its the rc8be. and thats a really good idea. do you think it would be worth converting to the rc8b?

I would, if you on a budget I'd do it in a heart beat... I don't think any one at SCR runs the rc8.2 and I'm the only one with the .2e
From what I heard from people that have been in the hobby a long time is the .2 is a better car out of the box... The rc8 just takes a little work and tweaking.. But there are a few guys at SCR that can point you in the right direction as far as the setup, what works , and what doesn't. ;D

I personally would just save up for a complete kit it would take a lot to swap servos. Plus from my personal experience I have learned the nitro and electric normally don't run the same diff and shock set up.
