The following was posted on rc files by Paul Gaertner of N-Control rc raceway . He is in the process of either selling or closing his track and posted the following ......
Venting, long, hopefully for the future good
I'll be closing this thread after posting it, because it's not something that needs any discussion. This is just my perspective and opinion, and as always you're welcome to take it for what it is or ignore it entirely.
I'm not posting for me, but for those track owners hanging in there after years and the ones who haven't been doing it for years yet. It's for Robbie at RCHQ, Steve at Indy, Jimmy at KWIK, Jerry at GEARS, Lawrence at Killeen, Roy at STAR/CAR, Mike at SADT, Jeremy at Mike's, Chris at Speedster, Ken at the River Track, Chris at Granbury, and anyone else I'm missing. And Carlton with RCPro, David with the TXSS, Courtney with HARC, and anyone like that I'm missing too. I name them because these people are the hobby of offroad RC racing, because without them and their ilk it simply doesn't exist.
I suddenly have the luxury of being able to speak my mind, without a need to smooth things out and suck it up and forgive and forget. I don't need to take anyone's crap so their measly $5 week will continue to help my track subsist.
After all of that, what i have to say is really simple at the heart: think about what you say.
Maybe you're really supportive of your track owner and have been loyal for years... and that DOES give you the right to complain about something. That doesn't make it a GOOD choice. Your track owner has 50 guys just like you. Every one of them has something to complain about, just that one little thing. He's also got 10 guys that complain about everything, no matter what. In the end, it doesn't matter much what someone says to the good, because someone else complains about it. After one year or five years or ten years, most of what you have left are the continuing complaints. From everyone. Little ones that should just be no big deal, but are because you've had it up to here. I've been guity of it, too, and I'm sorry.
David let too many people sign up, Steve pissed people off while trying to do a good thing, Robbie ran the track before the race, Paul is ****ty to people, Chris doesn't have enough pit space, it's too hot, too cold, too wet, the track is too dry, the layout is too hard, the layout is too easy, the layout is boring, the marshalling here sucks, it's dark in that corner, you missed my lap, my points aren't right, it went too late, it started too early, I'm back-to-back, this guy hacked me, the marshal disrespected my car, that fee is too high, and the crapper is full of crap.
It's certainly not the only reason I'm quitting, but it is A reason and not a small one. I own some of it... I have demons, I put myself out there more than most, and maybe my skin is thinner than I'd like to admit. In the end, I assume I've gotten more of a beating in less time than most of the other folks I've named. However, I can also assume that they get it, and that it hurts and sours them too. And that's too bad, because eventually they'll quit.
They can't really say this, not directly, just like I couldn't. They'd be whining, babies, pissing off the very people that financially supporting what they're trying to do. Every one of these folks are putting out big time for a better slice of RC.
Just think about what you say. Or don't.
To close with a little balance, I've had a great time with you guys and look forward to racing with each of you again. I have no regrets. Just a hope to make a difference for someone else. I would recommend the Texas RC scene to anyone, without reservation.
