Hi all, I had a few nitro RCs in the past and liked them a lot but lost interest. Now the other day I picked up a quad to start doing some flying and crashed today so gotta replace the body and gonna test it then sell it lol.
I stoped by SCR Raceway today and it looks like a cool place and would like to pick up a truck/buggy and wanna give Electric a try. So I'm looking for tips on what might be good to start with truck, buggy or truggy and size wise? I'm not looking to race yet I just wanna go get the hang of running around the track. Could I start with a RTR or will I get chased off for being too slow? Any advice would be great.
Thanks BigTat

Rtr models are ok but they do have flaws like the servo for starters. We run 1/8 electric/nitro buggy, 1/8 electric/nitro truggy and when there's enough 1/10 short course trucks. The biggest class would be 1/8 e-buggy at scr. They a big variety of cars being raced from mugen, losi, koysho, Tekno, hot bodies, team associated, and I think there might be an Xray or 2. Not sure when our next race is but it will be sometimes this coming weekend. I would say get an 1/8 buggy because everyone that races either has an nitro or electric buggy.

I'm thinking about picking up a traxxas slash 4x4 platinum lcg to play around with until I decide what buggy I wanna go with. From what I'm seeing the slash can use 2s or 3s lipo batteries. Are 2s or 3s lipo batteries commonly used in 1/8 buggys?? It would be nice to have batteries that would carry over to my buggy.
Thanks BIgTat

No we use 4 cells In most buggies and if we use three cells it is on a really high kvmoter like a 2650 or 2700

If you want two different types of cars with the same batteries I would suggest an e-buggy and e-truggy they both run 4 sell lipos. As far as putting 3 cells in a short course truck most people consider that cheating because a 1/10 scale vehicle is really only ment for 2 cell batteries

U can use 2-2cells in the 1/8 buggy/truggy so it will be the same volts as a 4cell but you are going to need a charger that can charge 2 batteries at a time. U would need to get high quality 2 cells batteries meaning they need a high discharge rate. Short course truck rules we race with are 2 cell limit and short course tires only.

I'm looking to just use the slash for bashing "no track use". Then I wanna build a buggy for the track.
Thanks for all the info it really helps me understand the sport.
