I'm about to get back into racing after being away for about 7 years. I was always a Team Losi fan. LOVED THEM! However, I have been looking at the Losi 8ight 2.0 electric 1/8 scale buggy. I stopped by the track yesterday to speak with some current racers who know more than I. I keep hearing about a problem with the Losi diffs. Something about shimming the rear diff, but having to keep checking and replacing shims more often than one should. I also read about some aluminum shims? Anyway, should I continue to research the Losi that I have always loved, or maybe start looking into another brand...like Kyosho? Please help. Is there a fix for this diff problem? ? from what I understand everything else about the Losi buggy is great.

Chris
There is nothing wrong with losi diffs in the buggy. I've only had one issue with mine and it's because the bearing went out. Out of all the buggies losi is probably the best on diffs. Now in truck you have to keep an eye on those. But that goes for all brands of truggies. I bet the people that have problems never change bearings or do real maintenance to there vehicle. As for electronics, speedo and motor, everybody has there own opinion. I myself like the losi gear. Out of the speedos and motors I feel that losi and tekin are top. I've seen a lot of mambas go out lately. Just my opinion though. Hope this helps. If you get the 2.0e trust me, you'll like it. If you do get it, put the standard drake setup on it and put 5000 in the center diff. Good luck
Bobby

Chris, start with 42.5 wt oil in the front with silver springs and 30 wt in the rear with black springs all with standard pistons. The electric car is weighs more and thats why we go up in wt. As far as the diffs go 5k front, 5k center, 2k rear. The droop setting and ride height settings are very important. Front droop 95mm and Rear 106mm, Ride height Front 26mm and Rear 29mm. This should get you started. Need anything else just ask. Enjoy!
