Good morning guys,
I wanted to give you guys a heads-up on a benefit race that we will be having at FRC fairly soon in June. I was actually looking for you guys' race schedule so I wouldn't overlap with a race y'all were having. The day that we are leaning towards is Saturday June 18th. Do you all have another race planned for that day?
This benefit is very personal to me. It will be a benefit for my sister. Very long story short, on May 10th of this year my sister went into the hospital for what seemed to be a normal virus that needed meds to treat, but very quickly turned a lot worse. Within 2 days she was transported to Oshcners there in New Orleans where she ended up having an Emergency Liver Transplant. From the time that she arrived at Oshcners her health started fading very fast. Within 2 days in the hospital her brain began to shut down followed closely by her kidneys just due to the fact that her liver could not filter the blood in her bodyand the toxins in her blood began to affect her other organs. She was immediately moved to the top of the transplant list and within 24 hours they had found her a new liver and performed a succesfull liver transplant. She is now recovering very well and should be released within the next week or so. She is a special education teacher working with children that have disabilities. However, like many other school teachers they are out for the summer which means no income for the next 3 months. The transplant surgery alone is slightly over $600,000. Not including the medication that she will remain on for the rest of her life. Can you really put a price tag on life itself though?
We are not looking for anything special for this race. We will treat is just like a regular club type race meaning no crazy race fees/extra. This will just be a good time racing with all the proceeds going to help with medical bills.
I will be working out all of the other details very soon but wanted to give a heads up and see how that date worked for you guys. Let me know if you guys would be interested. We love when yall come up to race and I've said it before and I'll say it again, the atmosphere you guys bring with you to race is awesome and I'd love to have y'all here.
***Also, just FYI. We got a 'sick' new layout going down as we speak. We have added about 400' to the overall runline and it's a lot more technical but ALOT better. Hopefully we have elimiated all the trouble spots and we all will benefit from the new layout.
Let me know your thoughts/concerns on the June 18th date.
Thanks again guys!
