Anyone know anything about the hot bodies v8e our serpent 1/8 buggies.
Durability, ease of getting parts..etc. Is it good for a beginner?
Thanks in advance

Jules, I ran the Hot Bodies D8 converted to electric using the Tekno chassis. The Ve8 is based on the nitro D8 buggy, so mine was similar in that it shared the same front and rear clips and overall suspension components.
Was very durable, performed decent, but lacks the adjustability of the Mugen ECO. An advantage of the ECO over the HB cars (and over most other buggies) are the long shocks and suspension travel. The ECO has a noticeably more cushioned suspension when landing hard off of high jumps and is more more stable and forgiving than the Tekno converted D8 I ran.
Parts are cheap and easily found on eBay with guys parting out Ve8's and D8's. The suspensions arms are strong; never broke one, but they're soft and bend over time.
My truggy is the Hot Bodies D8T with Tekno conversion. Very similar to what my buggy looked like if you'd like to check it out for comparison.
The stock Ve8 typically required upgrading the front and rear skid plates to the aluminum ones, as the stock plastic ones tend to break. Next time you're at the track, as for either one of the Vitos (father/son team). They ran a Ve8 for a long time. Vito is now running a Losi 8ight 2.0 buggy.

Thanks Jim, I'm thinking about one for my niece.. I want to get her something she can grow with for a year or 2 if that's even possible. I want her to at least stand A chance in the kids class that seems to be populated with SC or 1/8 buggy, some kids are even racing nitro. I figure if I get her a cheaper, durable 1/8 I could make it more competitive as she learned the ropes.
I think a buggy is easier to drive than a short course truck.

I have a Losi xxxSCB. For sale if you are interested. All you would need is a receiver and radio. It is a great car. Handles very well. It would be great for kids class. I let a boy run it in kids class and he won with it. It's in great shape. Only about 15 batteries ran thru it. Let me know!
