Hello everyone,
I used to race 1/10th electric about 7-8 years ago at Redstick Raceway in BR and am looking to get back into the sport. I heard that the track just hosted a large race last weekend and was wondering what the track schedule was like. Is there a race every weekend? Is the track ever open for practice on it? What kind of classes are run?
I'm looking for a good time that I could go out to the track and visit with everyone and see what kind of setups are being run these days.
Thanks for any info!

Welcome. I just recently got back into the hobby too. I used to race at the Velodrome and once or twice at redstick. I'm in Baton Rouge also. Ok so a few awnswers. Tracks close to Baton Rouge: Rc power Hobbies, Track was redone less than a month ago. $5 to practice. Open 6 days a week races are held on saturdays.. Not every saturday so just check on here. Its a 35-40 minute drive. www.rcpowerspeedway.com/Finishline raceway just held a pro series race last weekend. That track is about 1 hour away.. It was just rebuilt for that race and there is a race scheduled for the 12th its about 1hr away SCR raceway.. Where I run the most is in Destrahan.. exactly 1hr from baton rouge. Cool people, club race every week normally on Sunday weather permitting. Track is free to practice on ( Non Race days) so 6 days a week. normally at least 35+ entries each week, so you'll have competition on any level beginner to expert.. Tri-City is in Morgan city.. Really fun track Run by good people. Typically we all run there as a big group for money races etc.. Its 1hr 35 from baton rouge. This weekend I'll probably be at SCR saturday helping clean and prep the track and racing sunday.. Check out the Epic.crook.ferry video thread to get an idea of what the tracks look like. Oh and the Classes. Whats hot is 1/8 electric buggy, you can't go wrong with them.. But they can be on the pricey side if you just getting back into it, however you won't regret it. You can find a few used ones on here in great condition. Just research the car before you buy it. 1/10 Short Course Trucks...FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN and MORE FUN. lots of us race this class, and its still growing. They typically cost $200-400 less than a buggy for the whole setup.. Nitro 1/8 buggy if you know how to tune and/or are willing to learn..Really popular class, even though some weekends you may see a handful.. And lastly Truggy ..electric or nitro.. Popular but cost the most. Most are nitro kits with electric conversions.. same as the 1/8 electric buggy. However the kits cost more as do the tires.. There is at least one or two of all the classes listed above that someone on here is selling right now.

Thanks for the reply epic. Unfortunately I live in Lafayette, or else those NO area tracks would be great. Does FLR have a open/closed schedule? Is there any practice days and if so what's the cost, etc?

Any time we are not club racing the track is open for pratice for 5 bucks, just slide it under the door. We run 1/8 gas and electric and short course.
