So my Tekin Rx8 ESC decided to burst into flames for no good reason today on the first lap. Haven't sent one in before. I am just a month out of warranty, and have heard that they are pretty lenient on that. If not, no huge deal if I have to pay service to replace. Anyone have good/bad Tekin Warranty stories to share? My real question is this... There are burn/smoke marks on the back (wire) end of the motor as well. I really think it is just smoke from the ESC, but I have no way to really know. It still feels like it turns by hand as normal. Would you guys recommend sending the motor as well? Will they inspect it and just send it back with the new ESC if it's ok - or do I risk losing it? I just don't know. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have own Tekin for a while an they are really good with there turn around. Go on line to www.teamtekin.com and then click service and send them a email for a RA number and print there service requested form. There is a place to put the RA number when they email it to you on this form. Fill it out and put a copy of your receipt and mail it in a flat rate box. If mailed by Monday should get it Friday.

Yea I've got all that and was waiting on the RA. Thanks. Was just looking for feelings on people's experience with returns and if I should send in the motor unknown or risk that it may be fried too.

Greg, I would have them inspect the motor as well. It's not going to hurt to have them look at it. You have down time now anyway just with the speedcontrol being sent back. The service is pretty good at Tekin. That's my 2 cent.

I would send the motor in too. I actually had them call me and tell me my motor was fine. Very honest company.

Got it too late yesterday to make it out to the track, but I have to give some major Kudos to Tekin...
Not only was the speed control replaced with a new-in-box one, they also threw a Snickers bar in the box! Happy Halloween!
