Whats up guys.... Im getting my son(6) and I into racing. Im new to brushless seen and the actual racing. We're getting our feet wet with a SC10 2wd for starters and then go from there to what ever classes need more of. I've dug up as mant threads as i could about up grades and what not but would like to hear from some of you guys that race. My questions are Anyone run the SC10? What mods are we going to need right off the start ? Whats some of the most important spare parts will we need ? Would like to prepare as much as possible. Thanks for any info.
Dale W.

Sc10 really needs nothing. RPM bumper brace maybe. Rtr trucks might want a better servo? Im not 100% sure what they come with. Tires and maybe a spring set to. Most of the upgrades you'll see are just because people want them. Being new youll be more concerned with staying on the track than shaving a few tenths a lap with a upgraded part. Theres a wrire in extreme rc where they take a rtr sc10 vs maifields FT truck.

I owned a SC10 and it's a great starter truck for the price. It has a good speed control and Brushless 3300. I about to get me another one.

I run sc10 also. It has the box stock setup on it. It works great. As Alan said the stock servo may be a lilies on the slow side but run the truck first. It may be fine for you. You will need tires. The stock ones are nitrogen to good for racing. The only part that i have changed on a regular basis is the front arms. Get a few spairs. Other than tgats the truck is golden as it is.

Roger that... staying on the track !!
I have a servo coming along with some tires. I'll up grade as "needed". depending on what the classes look like will determine where we go next.
I hope the SCT classes are big enough !

That's why i would like to keep this 2wd or "4wd if we go that route" all stock. I know a few guys that would love to get into the sport but are worried about cost set up. I'll try and get them out there and use this as example. A fixed cost that will get you out there racing with what you "need". Spare parts will determine on the driver.

new guys also dont like the guess work . although they will still need to learn setup and driving.. they wont feel like eqpt is beating them with esc/motor rules. 13.5 or 17.5 blinky/no timing classes are pretty common. and gives rtr esc/motors a place to run. maybe it will grow good enough to have an open and blinky class .

open motors and esc. cost the same as stock. open just keeps people from cheating or buy a high dollar "stock" speed control, motor and high dollar batteries. With open you don't have to spend money on name brands, in other words you dont have to have the best because you can use all the power anyways.

Theres tons of blinky/stock escs that are affordable. There is no high dollar stock esc.. blinky is blinky. This BR area ive noticed does all its classes as if its all pros and seasoned racers who want to spend alot of money. But when i was driving to MS to race at Lees track they had 20-25 2wd SC trucks. 10 of which were probably RTR trucks. Do we even get 25 entrys total. Thats not counting the 2wd buggy and truck classes which i believe was a 9turn limit rule.

Its not up to me and im not pushing for either. But just making conversation off my experience in SSC racing. Im setting up for 13.5 blinky. If its open i can change the esc out of blinky to boosted and im sure will be strong enough.

Seems like there a big delay when you hit the gas. Don't seem smooth at all. Of course the only think I have to compare it good Billy's Losi buggy...lol I'm changing the shocks, servo and tires and roll with it. We need some track time bad!!
